You definitely don't want to push it in too early and let the motor flare up. Let off the throttle, and when you are sure the motor has come down (one or 2 seconds) then you can push the clutch in.

Would there be any problems with the driver leaving his foot off the clutch and using the motor to help pull the car up? We have changed from a powerglide to a lenco recently so this all new to us.

If the motor is really happy and always has oil pressure, it would be ok. Most times though, the oil pressure drops a lot when you are slowing down, so the extra load might get the bearings hot. I think its better to get it back down to an idle then shut if off and coast with the clutch in. I am talking through experience with my TAD and TAFC, especially if it is a wet sump system

definitely, we used one on our funny car before switching to a dry sump, and our bearing problems went away.

did you "open" the accumulator at the same time as the parachutes?

the accumulator is open all the way down the track and will feed oil to the motor if and when the pressure drops away .
