Hi guys, just wondering if anyone out there is using brad 3 fat heads, chasing valve clearences, cold and hot, think it was .014''C and 0.22''H, also what is the head stud and inner valley stud tension????????? I vaguely remember 120ftlbs and inner studs 50ftlbs???? My motor is a KB forged short deck block, its 451 cube.

    Thanks

Below is what we got from Brad for our BAE-4's. I'm guessing you have all 1/2"studs and 7/16" inner and then your numbers are near identical to what we have.
If in doubt ask BAE. I'm sure Jeremy or one of the other guys can help you out.

    9/16” top row-145 ft lbs
    7/16” inner studs-45ft lbs
    ½” bottom row-120ft lbs
We work from outside in towards the middle from side to side until meeting in the middle, in above sequence. (Top row complete, then inner complete, last bottom row complete) some people prefer to reverse last 2-steps and do bottom row and then inner to relieve some of the stress on the inner. Otherwise it could pull the threads on the inners. But always remember too loosen the inner first when removing a head.

    Rocker gear-3/8” studs-40ft lbs

Valve clearance might just be on your cam card. Our Crane came with a .026 (hot) for inlet and exhaust. There was a topic on ISTA once which said .012 cold, but you may want to check how that works out for your combo.

    HTH,

    We run 10's as well.
There's a recent message called "spark plugs" with more details and references on how to read them if you're interested.

    Cheers,
    Marcel
