whats a decent crank, without going with billet and extra machining, to use for blown alcohol?

Buy a BRYANT and Sleep Well!!! Knowing you do NOT have to worry about your Crank destroying everything above it! I once knew a guy...when he got into Blown Alky...asked me what I run (Bryant) he said "Too Expensive"...after BREAKING 2- Crowers in the same Season! I asked him......"How much did you save with those Crowers??" DUH!!! He bought a Bryant and has SEVERAL seasons on it! Next.....

eh go canada go gold. but my friend runs a bb chevy blown with a eagle stock stroke crank makes 1100 hp ran for 3 years no problems. stock stroke, steel eagle rods, 14-71 blower, and stays 7000 rpm. just don't over stroke it, and get the best rod bolts. rods are the weakest problem in the motor. take care

Just realized I replied to the wrong person, sorry about that.

For that kind of horsepower on a BBC The GM 1053 forged cranks actually work but a Lunati 4340 Pro Blower crank is about $1700-1800 new and works well up to 1800 hp. I have seen them hold more but that is a fairly safe number. On blown alky I would also recommend aluminum rods as they take a lot of the harmonics out of the crank, at lower rpm 8,000 or less you can get longevity out of them and still run 6's in the 1/4 if you want. The Bryant is an awesome crankshaft and worth the money for the dependability if you can swing it.

    Hope this helps,
