I have a problem with my power grid ,we did a up date on the controler ,and now we have no spark. We pull the two wires out of the point box and the car starts ,with the 7730 disconnected we go from the crank trigger to the mag trigger and the car runs, as soon as we plug in the 7730 the car dies.
We have have gone through and rebuilt the program 2 times and rechecked everthing I can see and still no spark. I even put a second 7730 on the car that is new ,and still no spark.
With a chip in the box the car runs fine.
    Thanks
    Dave :(

Check in the main menu that you have spark enabled, the only other time I have had an issue is if the motor isn't cranking fast enough, you also loose a few degrees of timing though the box as well, if you base timing is in the low 20,s it may be to retarded, I'd almost bet it ain't cranking fast enough.

Dave, can you email me the 7730 file you are using and let me take a look at it before you change anything. Send it to mike.c@mindspring.com.

Just to let you all know. The file was emailed to me and I have looked at the Grid setup and it all looks good. What I have asked is for Dave to change the Grid Data Acquisition Start Recording RPM to be 100 vice 3000. Now it will record while one is trying to start the car. Then after it will not start with the laptop connected you can hit F7 and show all that is recorded. Uncheck all but the last one and hit apply. Now you can select Engine RPM, Ignition In, Ignition Out and Battery Voltage. Ignition In is the trigger either from the Mag or crank trigger and Ignition Out is the output of the Grid. So if no Ignition In it is not the fault of the Grid. If you have a solid block of color across the graph for Ignition In and no Solid block of color across the graph for ignition out then something wrong with the Grid

if you updated the 7730 then i think all your old files wont work
i had to update msd software to the latest and redo all run files
the old files will not work with the new update
well thats what happened to the one i was working on
so any saved usefull runs you had are no good
just copy every thing from the old one before you delete any thing
but thats what i did on 1 . i could be wrong
    it runs and everything works
    i wont update again

You are 100% correct in that so far every update has required you to rebuild the file. Not sure why? Dave's Grid is updated because I checked that when he emailed me his file. I am not sure that saying one will not update again is a wise decision because MSD has made some pretty valid changes in their updates. One of the problems was that it wouldn't recognize a gear shift so it wouldn't retard on the shift. To me that was important. The 7730 Grid seems to be a lot better than the 8973. I know that one feature that is coming in the future is a Bluetooth link from your Smartphone so you can easily change parameters kn the staging lanes without having to use a laptop.

I also had 3 grids with the bus wires backwards
I had to switch the pin terminals around on all 3
(timing monitor77-- I think and arc 7760 wouldn't power up)

I hooked one up sunday and it delays about 1 sec before it pulls timing
I think its the transbrake field calapsing slowly
I will unhook t.b. solenoid and try it again if that fixes it ill put a relay on t.b.

No it was the harness that came with the 7730. It may be a pin or a broken wire.
