I've been running injected nitro in a front engine dragster for years, 440 cubic inch early Chrysler hemi, PG 175 pump, flows 12.9 , 10.0 : 1 compression, stack injectors, I run as much as 95% , and as much as 63 degrees lead,I'm direct drive but would love to play with a trans, I run 7.30 s all day long with a 4:10 rear gear at 200 mph, motor loves to pull, doesn't like high rpms, injected funny cars would be great fun! Feel free to call if you think I could help. Gene Adams originally set up my fuel system, wealth of knowledge, great guy.

I can help you,..Whats the problem..????

I know first hand Spuds stuff comes flowed and configured on the safe side and the data you paid for(base line) are only paper configs until
you get the right jet in the main and that has been applied and adjusted with that runs corrected alt, temp and weather, then he re adjusts the base lines to
those factors givin from a clean run.

I ran and had mine configured( BBC 505) to run alky and to also know what nozzle changes to make, and pump sizer, loop, and main to start with on nitro and progress from there.

So what is it you want to do, and do you have the components to hold up to the nitro to do it,..????

    My email is nitrokids@charter.net

You are correct on all accounts!! I've been working with him for about 14 years. He can and will make it right. The best person I've ever done business with. Never had a problem. He will work trough the problems given half a chance.

This is such a "cool" motor.....can you say "Nostalgia" that I do NOT want to throw in the towel.....:D

Great to have you back Uncle Tim (No relation) I thought the Dark Side had you for sure...lol, I spoke with Mike at Rage and gave him a heads up that you might be calling....PURE PRESSURE...lol

He is familiar with that combo. Said they are great and dependable motors, just a little work on the exhaust side and BAM, Horsepower city!

I told you Uncle Tim....no relation, Call Mike at Rage, I spoke with him and he would be happy to help you. He is very familiar with those deals and said that fuel pressure was key.

    Block?

Altered Boy, what block are you using? I know it's a little off the subject but curiosity has got me just a bit.

no laughing at my junk... but its a standard (non bowtie not hi nickel) plain jane tall deck 427. the center 3 mains were fitted with billet steel caps and it's full to the top with hard block. and it's a stock gm steel crankshaft. super basic stuff

I am running a BBC on injected Nitro
Mine is set to the Nostalgia A/Fuel rules
    11.6 Gallon pump
    So I am 433 CUI 4.280 Bore 3.76 stroke
I have AJPE heads that are 118 cc's
Cam was redone to this combo
I have a 38cc dome piston to try to get some Compression and not kill valves, piston was designed to work with these heads.
Lenco 2 speed with a 41 gear, 3.90 rear end gear and a 104" tire, glide style clutch (which we have been working with) and more grams then make sense but you have to burn the fuel
I run 100% in the tank and 65* of lead in the mag
ON PAPER... everyone who has seen my combo says we should be running 6.50's or better all day ...
    Haven't got there YET

Seems like we have been missing 1 piece of the puzzle and hopefully we finally got it right...testing again Oct 5

Any comments or questions are welcomed

    Jerry

Jerry I think you’re going to find 65° in the mag is going to be too much for that big block Chevrolet advice given to me from Dale Armstrong 50- 57

We we had under 60 it would barely run
We all know Nitro likes lead but there is a limit
We recently fired it up with new crank and rods and some minor tune ups and it had 59 in it and sounded healthy
I will let you know as we plan to test soon before the CHRR

So after MUCH research and re thinking the entire combo and asking for some help what we believe we found was the cam was just WRONG, a lot of help from Bullet Cams for the new design, one of their guys a really savvy with injected Nitro so with some info I had and what he knows we came up with a new cam for my car.
So new cam and a bit longer rod is the next step.
Motor is being redone and re-speced, clearances, bearings, rings etc with some help from a local Machine Shop.
Plan to to test prior to March Meet and if all is on track run the MM and hopefully surprise some people, maybe even ourselves.
And Vic I am thinking that with the cam being more in line we will be closer to 60 in the mag.

Obviously flow is HUGE but the cam is such a big deal in an injected motor, got a lot of help from and NHRA A/Fuel owner-tuner who has also given us a bunch of pointers in the clutch area as well.
    Fingers crossed for 2020!!

We made our 1st runs with the new combo at the 2020 March Meet.
We were very happy with the results and after getting it home to look it all over every part and piece looks good, happy motor. We are still on the rich side based on EGT's but we are trying to take steps. Best run was a 6.77 at just under 200 mph.
We ran with only 10.91 compression and I have already bumped that (via head gaskets) to 11.01 for the next time out and have gaskets already to go to 11.15
We are still running in the area of 63 of lead made the 1st run at 58 and it was lazy early.
Plan is to stay at 63 for timing and run it with more compression and work with that and some minor changes to the clutch. Until we get the motor right the clutch is staying fairly neutral.

Definitely feel like compression, timing and the right cam make these tune ups. With a limited amount of fuel, 11.6 GPM you have to figure out how to burn ALL the fuel you can give it and once you have the motor happy it comes to to loading it with clutch. We arent there YET but so much closer than we were before making these changes. Happy Racing...whenever that starts back up again
