So Top Fuel and Fuel Funny Cars all use 14-71 blowers, right? But they are all standard helix, right?

Is there anything special about them that makes them even as good as a garden variety 14-71 high helix (non-superman style) blower?

Or because of their rotors do they have no real value to anyone outside those two classes?

yes, all tf and fc use 14-71 std helix units. most buy the psi units and change the rest over to alan Johnson billet cases, (another 6k for the case only) . now, starting out already at 10k for a stock psi and adding another 6k, it gets going out of reach fast. nowadays you can buy the old cases cheap? and fill them with parts, but for that kind of money you can buy a hi helix (much better anyway when rules allow) and buy a modded blower for a descent price compared to a tf unit, (which has probably been ruined by a backfire or the case is ballooned out, they all keep track of this, and know when they are junk. ) I would look for a used littlefield or kobelco. I just bought 2 kobelco hi helix 14-71 in great shape for 1500.00 apiece. that's a good blower cheap in my book.

Just make sure you don't buy a blower with K8 rotors in it.

    k-8 kaboom

apparently a few people had problems with the pin area being not sturdy enough and would crack the rotor and the pins came loose. some did , some didn't. overall a k-9, or k -11 rotors are more beefy in that area and don't have that problem anymore. im not sure if the rotor speed had anything to do with it or not, but just keep an eye on them to be sure. and no, a hundred dollar profit wouldn't pay for the freight............

We had 3 k8 littlefields 8-71s, we loved them, as technology advanced we did too & sold them about 8 years ago. We now compete against 2 of them, they are still going strong.

    Blower warehouse

well, he had 10 more at the same price or cheaper, I just didn't want that many taking up room in my house! had some screw psi superchargers for 1000 apiece, but they weigh too much for me to lift.

Dan, I'll take two of those PSI's. I can lift them but I'm kinda picky though. They need to be C's and they need to have a 12-2013 cert on them. Oh, I'm sure they come with the hat, the restraint and the fuel system for that price too.

went by there today and he threw them all in the dumpster. I guess had to make room for the new Bugatti. I didn't feel like climbing in there, so I guess the landfill will get them! too bad, I could have got 2 dollars a pound for scrap!

    Biggest whiner of them all

seems to me your the biggest whiner of them all Robert ! geeeez, and you still wonder why nobody wants to buy anything from you? should you be petitioning nhra on a pro stock bike engine you don't want, since you don't own one? maybe you can tell clint how much you like the miner engine, and victory how much you hate their cars, and how you can build something so much better? inquiring minds want to hear........ and tom, you can borrow anything I have at anytime, most of my parts spend their lifetime on other peoples cars anyway! a good alky source told me once psi is a dirty word! once you buy a screw, you start not having any more fun, just feeding the car parts!
