This has been happening for far to long to good people of this site. To let people like this idiot in Ohio take advantage of us is getting out of hand. This site sells millions of dollars in product and parts to racers. There need to be a big bold spot on here for dirt bags , shitty sellers , and anyone else who prey on the weak! If you have a problem with a seller then it needs to be put out for everyone to see just what happened and how it went down. Then seller needs to respond or that's it your done , off this site ! And if we need to do this like eBay where PayPal dominates , if it makes transactions safer to the buyer so be it. We have to do something ! This makes me hate racers and everything we stand for. We're all scam artists, selling a crank you knew had a crank, pistons that were wire out , rods that say 10 runs when really they had 30....... Everyone of us is guilty of this but now it's time for a change. If we need to pay to use this site then do it ! Sorry for the rant! Jay kalso

    Scumbag Sellers

Well, of all the first rate sellers and sponsers of ITA that sell top quality first rate parts and that have tons of experience, I certainly have to agree that there are some scumbag sellers that sell to people on this site and any other site on the internet where they can find a buyer. My experience is that some of these sellers sell 95% decent quality used parts then occasionally slip in a broken piece of crap to an unsuspecting buyer, then the scumbag seller hides behind his otherwise decent reputation and claims the scammed buyer is "crying like a bitch'. Sad but true. That same scenario is also true on just about every site on the internet. It seems to just be a fact of life and one of the pitfalls in buying used parts sight unseen.
That being said, I do not think that ITA could police those scumbag sellers to the point of banning all of them from this site. After all, the scumbags claim the buyer is asking for too much and the buyer claims he asked for what was described in detail. ITA does not exist to referee on purchases of used or even new parts.
I agree that I wish there was some venue that would police the scumbags but ITA can not do it. I could only suggest that a potential buyer do his research and find any references to the potential seller and take those findings to heart. Even one broken part described as perfect, never welded but received welded four times and still broken should be enough to make any potential buyer shy away from such a scumbag seller. Even Ebay does not properly protect a victim buyer from those scumbags. They say for the buyer to pay for return shipping and they will try to get your money out of the seller.
Buyer beware. Do your homework. Buy only from people you find 100% positive feedback about. Even one negative might be a sign of a tendancy.
I learned that lesson the hard way and it cost me $800+
    Good luck with your endeavor.
Now let's see what scumbag sellers have to say about this post.

    Name and Situation Not Allowed

My experience on here in that idea is that the post will be removed for violating ITA policy. A poster is not allowed to state a scumbags name and warn other ITA members about bad selling practices of a particular scumbag. Imagine that.

I think you can post that persons initials and area code without issue.
Those that know the seller at that point can private message you .

    Scam Section

ITA already has a "SCAMS" section. it appears that you just can't tell WHO you are talking about. I'm just saying.

    Scumbag sellers

Over the years I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of race car parts from many different sellers.
I have never had a problem with ANY of the purchases and have been very satisfied with the items.

Some sellers I have communicated with, after talking with them, I decided NOT to make the purchase.
    Something "just wasn't right"

I ALWAYS communicate with the seller, by phone and Email.
    I ALWAYS research the seller.
I guess it is called "due dilligence".

I guess doing the proper research is not possible for some people.

    "Cavet Empitor", buyer beware????

    disputes

The problem that happens with letting someone air grieviances over disputed transactions is I end up getting a phone call from one or both parties explaining how they got screwed or how the other party doesn't know what they are looking at, it was sold as is, etc. Then the online discussion usually goes downhill from there, and if there's anything that a lawyer can get ahold of, there's potential for me to get dragged into it.

It sounds easy enough to just say 'why can't we just post the people who screw us' on here and the bad apples would go away, but it's not that easy. For every crook that really does sell junk, there's always going to be that guy who bought a 1989 KB stage 7 block with a million runs on it for $850, takes it to his machine shop, the machinist says its wore out, then he gets on here to say he got screwed.

I've made a few exceptions to the rule over the years to people who's name repeatedly gets named in bad transactions. Private message me the person and the details and I'll make a note of it.

    Homework Assignment

Agreed. A good student will do his homework assignment. A buyer will ask the right questions, detailed questions, leaving nothing to the imagination or a "loophole" for the scumbag seller to leave open and STILL sometimes the buyer receives junk that was grossly misrepresented, cracked and welded and still has cracks when described by the seller as "perfect and never welded". Even due diligence does not always payoff. There are just crooks out there no matter how hard you try to be sure of what you are buying.
That being said, ITA can not police the buy and sell issue. Used parts are truly a risk no matter where you buy them.
