Carbon brakes

    Whats the low down on baking carbon brake pads and rotors. Can i do it at the shop or do i need to send them back to strange. Thanks paul fishburn.

    Just send them to Strange, I believe it's like $50 or less to bake them and they can inspect them thoroughly.

    Okay, dumb question, why do they need baking ?.......

    special baking process to clean them.You can't wash them like steel.You have to slowly burn the oil out. Makes them work better.

    I gather in this case they have come into contact with brake & other fluids?

    Many top teams use Strange for this service with no issues, while a lone incident isn't unheard of lets consider the statistics here. I'd consider Nancy the anomaly here and any issue was likely self inflicted. You can bake these at home but prepare for your oven and future foods to taste horrible. For the price that Strange offers this service for why waste your time sending to Bojec (sp?) or doing it at home? When you can send to the manufacturer you cannot beat that. If $50-100 is breaking the bank maybe take up tennis.
