Thinking of going from Veney to Brad VIII, difference in power?

I currently have Veney 2.375 fuel heads on 496 4.310 bore 496 TFX with a C Rotor. What kind of difference in power will I see? I know that I will basically have to change motors for the bigger bore/piston/etc.

90% 108% and 120% over based on where I am running.

    Thanks

the big chamber veney alky heads do pretty good at higher overdrive applications that do not have to rev up real high.

however a late model fat head like the bae 8 should make quite a bit more power than an older style fuel head on a screw blown application.

    Thanks,

Tough to change platforms with all the cool magnesium parts, (intake, valve covers, gear drive cover, pump drive) but I will have to do it sometime.

The 4.310 bore seems restrictive too.

I thought that veney came out with a smaller chamber design in the last year or so with a lighter piston getup? Might want to look into that before switching completely over? Newberry run hard for a lot of years with veney stuff

Your question is like the difference between BAE5 and 8. It's hard to get a straight answer but guaranteed the hp per dollar will not be impressive.
I just switched from a Chevy D rotor to a BAE5 C big bore combo and from what i've seen the gains do not come easy no matter how much you upgrade if your old combo was solid.
These screw combos move 75 hp with one degree of timing. Just tuneup differences can make your Veney quicker than the best stuff out there.
Last I knew, your program needed a lot of work so i'd get the current stuff up to par before trying to upgrade.
One thing i'd suggest is to spin the blower 125+. It's actually easier on parts when you can run it richer.

    Thanks,

I have changed the lower pulley to run 125% over while the car is down.

Yeah, I need to get my current program sorted out... Big time. The intake seats on the heads were junk from day one (should have torn the motor down on site to see that they were not 2.5 Veney as advertised [thanks a bunch, Bennie McDonald] and that they were 2.375 fuel heads)

The heads have been at Fowler for almost a month and I am losing opportunity to tune and get sorted out.

Hopefully I can run again this year if I get my parts back, ultra frustrated with waiting forever and people selling me bad stuff.

I thought the intake had to change for the new Veney stuff.

    big picture

Sure with enough runs and work you can make anything run.

It just depends on where you want the road to end up in a few years.

If you stick it out with the older Veney stuff, you're going to reach a ceiling for engine power. There are a handful of people who know how to make that Veney run.

Whereas if you start now with later model fat head stuff, you have a higher ceiling, and you don't reach a point where you learn and figure out how to make what you have fast, only to have to start over when you make the same switch down the road.

The more overdrive and blower you have, the more difference in power you will see with better heads.

Does anyone have any heads and all the gear required to make it run for sale????

All I hear is "we can do (x) in a week" I send my stuff in or send money for new parts and I go to the bottom of the pile and wait months. Is it the giant wart on my nose, do I smell bad????

    John,

Thanks for taking the time to talk with me this evening. I will sort out these heads and possibly secure spares if available. Great, rational advice. Thanks a bunch.
