I was mocking up a TFX-96 in the chassis to route my plumbing and wiring. Where is the normal place to tap off of for oil pressure gauges and sensors. There is an oil gallery that comes up the front of the block from the pump to another gallery that runs the length of the block. This gallery feeds the mains and cam journals. At the back of the block on the top of the bellhousing area there are 2 large plugs that cover the vertical galleries for the oil drains out of the valley. At the risk of sounding stupid, I don't see anywhere in the block to tap off of for oil pressure. The only place I can think of is the filter lines coming out of the Plueger dry sump pump. Am I missing something?

    Thanks

Your not missing anything. The TFX92 had an oil pressure take off at the rear of the block. On all of my TFX96's we took oil pressure from the loop line at the pump, same place we take it from on the Brad billetts. Cheers Murray

we take ours off the #12 line at the filter. I drilled and tapped for an 1/8" pipe right into the fitting on the System 1 mount.

Tapping off the fitting makes for a very short run to the gauge and computer box.

    Thank you for the input.

I have a fitting off my inline oil filter, wet sump system..... reads plenty of oil pressure.

    Question????
Will any of the fittings on the back of the block show oil pressure during pre-oiling??

on the tfx 96 no fitting on the back will read oil pressure
tfx 92 and tfx 2000 do have a fitting on the back that will read oil pressure

    Thanks Rich,

Is there any merit to running an oil line from the pump to the top left port on the back of the block? I have read on a couple of other boards that guys have been running a line back there on the cast TFX 96 blocks for a better supply to the #5 main.

Edit.... I think I answered my own question..... Those passages in back are valley drains to the pan.

    Thanks anyway

you're right, those holes are there for the oil returns only...
so putting oil pressure there would be juste a waste
