I have never run a race pak computer, and have a limited knowledge. i run a top sportsman car with a big block with an 8-71 on alcohol. I really want to put one in for the main reason to know the egt's to keep the tuneup safe without going over the edge, or even near it. the car without it has been pretty darn consistent as is. ive been told the computer system, as it would need to be built for my specifc needs, would be apporximately $6100. and that would be saving me over a thousand seeing as he says it should be over $7100. according to what i see, im thinking the v300sd should be about 2300 plus the egt sensors being around 1400. any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, i talked to another guy last summer who suggested i get the altronics red alert egt system. anyone ever use this system? it runs about $1,000 or is that a waste of money?

If you read your sparkplugs correctly you don't need EGTs and you can save a lot of money and have great performance

You can find a good used Racepak w/ everything you want for quite a bit cheaper. An SC1000 would do you just fine; or a VSeries. The Pro series is nice but for what it sounds like you're wanting to do it'd be overkill. I'd spend some time looking around, make sure they'll agree to send to Racepak for inspection or take to a national event and have Todd look at it before buying. Good luck in your search!

Get onto Greg Kelly @ Motorsport Inovations, he posts on here fairly regularly. He is a good guy and will do you a good deal. I have a V300SD, 8 egt's and a bunch of other gear including a dash. MSD is easy to use and hookup with the V-net and easy to add sensors as you want them or can afford them...

    Cheers Pete

I would check out the RPM systems too. I've had really good luck with them and the customer service is great.

Thanks Pete - I sent OP a PM.

Just for the record, a V300SD setup for a Mag in an automatic car with 8 EGT's is $3100. I assume the $7100 is a quote on a Pro system. If Racepak recommended a Pro system over a V300SD there must be a good reason. True Top Sportsman cars with a suspension and conventional recorder mount get the V300SD.

not knocking anyones system but I think ,,,, RACE PAK you have it or you need it! every other system in the racing industry is compared to it and everyone in the industry that can help you or builds parts to help you knows how to use it and or will say send me a run off your race pak and I can help you, and yes there are plenty used that will work for you just fine

We have Racepak and I have help/used the RPM system a lot. I would suggest for the money you cant beat the RPM system and from what I see Randys service is second to none.
im not knocking Racepak I like my racepack its just expensive and not in everyones budget, and for the money you can get all you want and more from RPM.
    Just my 2 cents
