    Hi,
Do you support the funny car chassis when traveling?

We have never used chassis support for the funny car, but we have always used an air bladder when towing the dragster. Most of our travel has been 1-5 hours on the road.

We are getting ready to make a long tow.....so I am wondering what everyone else does.....is it necessary?

    Thanks
    ML

I use an air bladder. I push it as far up under the motor plate as I can. Never had a problem. I would suggest not having the belly pan on so the bladder doesn't bend it

Just a little story to tell about this subject. One weekend last year all the crew meet up at a Cracker Barrel 30 min or so from the track. We have a great time eating breakfast and head out toward the track. I'm following behind the trailer on the highway and can hear the banging of the trailer from 30 feet back. Now there is a floor panel loose back there that always makes noise. But this sounds alot louder than normal. We pull into the track and open the door to start unloading. As the back door comes down our jaws dropped. The left control arm was ripped off the chassis and the weight bar is what was banging on the trailer floor. We hadn't been supporting the chassis in the trailer but we are now. I don't want to spend 3 hours welding a tripod back on at the track again.

We do it on the cheap, An old truck inner tube under the engine plate. It's gone cross country a couple of times.

Just search "Chassis Stabilizer" on the web.. I know Summit sells them along with a few other outlets.. About $300 for the bladder and hose.
