    how how long a stand[spacer]can i run between my idle pulley bracket and idle pulley and still be strong enough?i'm guessing i'll need roughly 1 1/2" or there about to get my idle pulley out where i need it..no room to space idle pulley bracket out[block mount style for bbc]due to running a summers brothers front mag drave;;will be running a outbord support on it also..

    I'm not in the shop to measure but I'm pretty sure I've got one engine that has been 1.5" or more with no troubles, we've run it for several seasons.
    Fyi, I dont use a blower starter

    stand

    are you using a blower starter?

    the depending factor is how strong is your bracket, I have seen ones that were ample enough to ones home made out of soft plate that would never stand it.

    1.5 should not be an issue.

    my mistake;;i need to move idle pulley out 2 1/2" out from bracket..i have the street bracket now on blower but being told that with a 26 tooth[small pulley] and idle pulley being up that high it doesn't give me much belt to tooth contact on upper pulley..so want to go with block mount idle bracket..it pretty much has to be bolted flat against block because of my front mag drive..also can not bring belt any closer to block[inside of belt needs to be 4 1/2" out from block to clear mag drive;;

    Idleing

    make the spacer and brace one piece. Clevice style just enough room to clear the idler
    the other side have two bolts into the adjustment slot with dual T slot nuts. the idler bolt is short and dosnt go into the plate. It will be roughly triangular.
