I am looking at blowers for a clutch cooling rig, I can get either a 1200cfm unit (pretty noisey) or a 300cfm unit (pretty quiet). My question is the will 300cfm be enough to cool a clutch between rounds or will I need the 1200 cfm? At this time there is nothing in between for a decent price.

    Thanks
    Corey

http://www.fans-plus.com/products/qmark_A300.html get one like this. Its about 150 and if you are good a fabing things you can build duct to fit can. In 20 30 min clutch is cooled off where its warm to the touch and its very quiet

Thats pretty much the same as the fan I am looking at, they are blowing them out the door at $49.95. Just wasn't sure if the small one would do the trick.

Looks like that the one I'll get
    Thanks

2 of those 300's are more than enough to cool the parts when its apart. We usually set one in the chassis pointed at the flywheel and another at the top half and discs in a rack. Barely warm in about 7-10mins. Something to keep in mind about the ducted deals with the can still on, it will only move as much air as the outlet(s) in the can allows it to move. More CFM doesn't always help.

A couple of years ago I built one of these using the 300 CFM blower. Originally i put a 3" dia. hose on it, expecting the air velocity to go up and the volume to go down. Much to my surprise it had virtually no air coming out the end of the hose. I replaced the hose with a 6" dia. one and it works great.
