I am looking at putting a fuel sensor in my k-style barrel. The 2 ports on the bottom of the valve, I pulled the plugs out and they are an ORB fitting, does anybody know what size? They are not a #4, are they maybe a #3? I'm looking for an adapter fitting to get them to 1/8" pipe but can't figure out the size.

    Thanks

I believe they're 3AN-ORB, you can get a 3AN-ORB from XRP that has the 3AN flare (assuming fuel psi) on it.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought those ports were only open at idle, the hole closes off at wide open throttle.

I pulled the plug out of the bottom and the one inline with the inlet port of the BV seems to intesect and is immediatly before the spool and the other port is right after the spool. By my thinking a sensor in each should give you pressure before and after the BV. I put my leakdown on it and they seem to flow with the spool in various positions. I could be wrong (happens all the time):)

However this whole line of questioning may be for nothing because I don't think I can fit a sensor there anyways, I would have to run a hose. At that point it may be easier to just get some guage port fittings at tap pressure with those.

    Thanks

The most outboard fitting is a #3 and is open to use as the fuel pressure. Works great !

Enderle makes very nice brass fittings for those !

If your only purpose of doing a before an after to is to see what kind of pressure drop there is thru the BV at wide open throttle, I'm here to tell you it is nearly 0, maybe 2 psi, as I've checked that on the flowbench.

Very true, anyone having this issue with their nozzles can contact me. I have the nozzle bodies available in stainless steel and titanium. These bodies are available in a few different lengths, just let me know from the tip to the threads (measurement). They are also available with a built in ball check that can be used with either a screw in jet or a drop-in (Crawford). The nice thing about the drop in jets is that you eliminate the brittle brass hanging out there. I have pics if anyone is interested as well. I know it's not a "k-valve" issue but just an fyi as myself and others have been breaking these nozzles quite a bit lately (brass) and they can do $10's or thousands of dollars in damage for a $20 part.

Yes you should measure it at the pump, I had XRP make me several "custom" an plugs for the waterman that go directly to 3an flare.
