Ok so i go to put jets back to an original tune up but along the way the original jets got mixed with some others of the same size so now the question is if you have two jets both size 60 and they havent been messed with could one flow enough different to cause a problem ? I know the size number to put back in but i do not know what they flowed ?

Doesn't that still leave some variables in the inlet-outlet chamfers or radii?

Maybe im just splitting hairs but IMO the only way to really know is to flow them.

A needle dial will get you close enough. Generally jets that have been flowed have the jet number and a "F" somewhere on the same side. Unless you were on the RAGGED edge I wouldn't think twice about it. In the off season you could see what jets you use and order flowed ones, you could always have yours flowed but by the time you ship them back and forth etc etc.... Call Spikey @ Gorr, he'll help you out.

Let me ask a question on a needle dial and its meanings to gallons per minute flow. Enderle port nozzle and bypass jets that have the same diameter orifice flow totally different GPMs. Enderle port nozzle jets of the same diameter as Crawford drop in jets flow totally different GPMs. Jets that have the same diameter orifices but straight or chamfered inlets or outlets flow different GPMs. Using a regular screwdriver on a bypass jet and nicking the slot will change the GPM. So in all the above said jets I can have the same size diameter orifice according to a needle gauge but all have different GPMs so what is gained by using a needle gauge?

I believe what brandon is saying is that its relevent to the size that you are running.Yes nicks will effect them but they would have to be major. Also we are not running hours to measure a pound of fuel ,and yes I have a flow bench for the last 30 years.

I have used a leakdown tester and made a fitting so I could screw a Enderle bypass jet into a holder and have done comparison tests on multiple unflowed jets of the same size and have recorded different pressures indicating different flows. Then have done the same test using Ralph Gorr flow calibrated jets and show several jets of the same size to flow real close to the same. For tuning I prefer to only use flow calibrated jets. I guess it was a lesson I learned the hard way when I was using nitrous. Also would depend on how accurate of a tuneup you want or how anal retentive you are, lol.

Yes Mike just saying they'll be close, I have seen people have two "35's" in their leanout(s) and one was actually a "135", the "1" was just not next to the "35". If it doesn't look right don't use it. The best bet would be to get a system flowed (I like Gorr) and get an amount of flowed jets relative to your combo. Make sure you take into account main, loop, leanouts, etc..; it truly is the best option. The dial gauges do ballpark you pretty well, but as Mike said each one CAN be different. I use the dial just to double check, I've found one flowed jet that was marked wrong and it's a good thing I checked. Good luck in your pursuit!

Yes Mike a leakage tester does give a good comparison .I have made a simple regulator that can be used on the regular house water line just like aleakage tester but will give wet flow without going to the bench, sort of the poor mans flow bench think how to make one and save a lot of guessing.

Flowed jets and nozzles are a necessity if you are in the zone at all. If you run it on the fat side where you won't hurt it you can get away with it. We have jets that are re stamped 2 sizes from their original marked sizes. Physically protecting them in the holder and making sure they don't get damaged after that is important.
When you have them flowed, pick a vendor and stick with them because all benches are not the same.
    just a suggestion
    Cheers

i went through and flowed with a leakdown tester and got jets that flowed as close as possible to their size stamp they all seem to flow more than the size shows probably because of being flowed with just air but i duplicated to the best of ability the original tune up well see what it does ! its 500 degrese hear in the shade and i wouldnt even go if i werent first in points i would pull this stuff and have it flowed !
