Nice article from Bob Frey about Alky at E town On the summit site, Bob knows what good racing was about . Farewell to E town we will never be back after 40 some years. Thanks for the memories. I can't help but feel the slap of not being appreciated. We supported E-town for all those years, and this is the result. I am hurt and disappointed!

Sadly, I acutally agree with Kosky on something.

Until the NHRA's viewpoint of the Alky classes changes, it's going to just continue to be a downhill slide.

    PSA?....

I believe there are alot of factors that caused this,

1 alky classes do not promote themselves outside of NHRA, ie shakedown at etown is a promod race that is run by a promod racer who took a chance 10 years ago, promoted a race and created a fan base that support promod racing, hopefully this will change with the prosportsman association.

2 Englishtown realizes the popularity of promod over the alky classes and wants to promote the promods because they currently make more money on the promods, look at the sponsored Promod cars at Etown this weekend, Jegs, roush yates/aeromotive, precision turbo. And those sponsors are doing big advertising at the track, Also remember Etown does not have alky at the divisional so the track has part say in this matter

3 Dominance by certain teams in the last few years, every race with either manzo or reichert, it was pretty easy to pick the winner, I think Frank had a perfect season 1 year. Nascar seamed to have this problem with their champ winning 5 years in a row.

4 No real changes to the rules the last couple of years. Good for keeping costs down, bad for coming up with new combinations with new manufacturer/ supplier involvement.
Manufacturer involvement means advertising dollars, maybe sponsorship opportunities.

5 Not many crashes, this is a good thing. Problem, I believe, is casual fan wants something to talk about, look at stupid monster truck shows that sell out 60,000 seat stadiums.

    Pro Mod

I don't have anything against Pro Mod, but one of the reasons why a national event track might choose them over alcohol is the fact they are free of charge to NHRA and the track. Burgess pays the bill for them.

We all make choices in life and the NHRA and E-Town will have to live with it.

I will no longer go to E-TOWN to watch any of their shows.

Your right it's not the same any more and I for one will show my feelings my not going back.

You are close on some accounts, but it is NHRA not E-Town. And Pro Mod has always been there and barely had a full field @ 18. Even Pat Musi who is minutes from the track chose to go to St Louis for an ADRL race. Also sad to see only 18 Pro Stock cars at a race that normally has around 24. It all comes down to money, who has it and where it is spent.
Not to rub salt in the wounds but now TRAXXAS has room for an acre display. Most T/F-F/C Teams have double wide party tents (for each car, not just the team).
It will be interesting to see what happens to Pro Mod if no one else steps up and Burgess pulls out as promised.

Mike, I live right up the road and didn't bother to attend, I also noted a lack of promotion locally for the event, I was working a job site right on Englishtown road behind Cantores in old bridge and didn't see a single business hanging a "welcome race fans" banner anywhere. Nothing in East Brunswick as well. Also "The Race Place" sports bar formerly known as "Cantores" is boarded up with a temporary fence around the parking lot. It was the quickest race that nobody knew about. They will get my ten dollars for the swap meet when i need tools and that's about it. I'm over it. Say hi to the crew for me.
