    20w50

I'd pass. I use 60W and would not consider anything 20W.

I use it, Shaeffer supplies me an additive that is the thickener used in their oil. I use 12 quarts 20-50 and 3 bottles of additive. I push my stuff pretty hard and my filter looks great - never an oil related failure. Oil pressure holds better from cold to warm than the straight weight I use to use. I also am sponsored the oil and was apprehensive to run it but was assured it would work without the additive. I would buy it over the others if not sponsored.

What is your motor combo? Fuel altered? Nitro with 20/50 sounds sketchy on nitro..... 60w or 70w I would think

I don't care what the deal is. I learned a long time ago when you find an oil that works for you stick with it.

We've used the SAE 50w by schaeffer for the last 2 yrs on our 526 blown alky hemi. No problems, brgs look good. Oil pressure seems to be on the low side 80psi or so, but figured it was due to the low weight oil.

GumBgone: I'm curious about the additive you're running with in your oil? Does shaeffer sell that? Or is it something your rep gets you?

Similar to Lucas Stabilizer I guess? We've run Lucas 20/50 semi synthetic and Stabilizer in blown alky engines since 1998 and never done a bearing. Moved to their 20/50 race oil this year again with Stabilizer, as expected another flawless product :)

#132 Moly E.P. Engine Oil Treatment
This is what I use as an additive with the Racing 20-50. I know a lot of people use the Lucas stabilizer but as it was explained to me, it isn't a good idea to put additives in the oil. The oil manufacturer spend a lot of money on research to get the best additive package they can and putting something in it that was not formulated to be there could cause some problems with compatibility. The #132 Moly E.P. Engine Oil Treatment was formulated for Schaeffer oils therefor no compatibility issues.
My oil pressure now starts out at 128 psi at idle cold and after warm up is 124 psi. I do not pre-heat the oil and I like the idea that it starts out thinner.

we like the brad penn......hard to beat for our deal. we are doubling our oil life over other non-synthetic oils. we use a straight 50w....sometimes throw in 70w when its really hot, and pre-heat the oil. i think you will like it. i can honestly say that i have never heard anything "bad" about it.
