We have a shootout car with a new dart cast block that has split the main saddles up to the cam who makes a aluminum block that will take 40lbs of boost and the torture of a promod car ?

    BBc blocks

    Promod63,
New Centrey makes a great block, I have had several of them and never had a problem, we are making about 2600 hp and have run it up 2750, Lowell is the man to talk to his number is 618 466 6383, great product and great support!!!

    good luck

Ive heard great things about New Century, and have also heard great things about CN's forged billet blocks (www.cnblocks.com). Costs more than the New Century cast block but may be worth it.

I ran a kb/olds, had good luck with it!!!!!!! not sure how kb is doing these days????? I have seen the new century it is very similar to the kb probably nicer!!!!!!!!!! I switched to a TFX but if I was to build a Chevy I would probably go with the new century

I doubt a cast hemi is any stronger than a KB olds or new century and they have less headbolts. They all blow up. The chevy valvetrain is tricky but the bottom should live until it won't rev any higher.
I'd hate to invest in a new chevy block but they are getting rare on the used market.

CN Blocks will by far be the strongest BBC setup out there, hands down.

We ran a 5.0 in bore center cn billet block and it by far was one if the fastest legal chevy motors around . We ran 20 over at 2750 lbs and has gone as fast as 6.09 @231. With a m5! And yes it's forsale with a ton of new parts. Pm me. Chevy for life!

KB olds block or new century, also a dart iron big m will do as well, but you should SERIOUSLY consider switching to a hemi before sinking more money into the chevy deal i did and couldnt be happier

    Split block

Heck the simplest solution to your chevy problem is to get a real engine like a hemi and you won't have to worry about it coming apart. hell my 526 tfx puts out 42 lbs on the warmup with an mert 14-71 hh that was built in the late 80's

Anyone want to chime in on what would cause this? I have a new Cast Big M with only a handful of runs on it that has done the same thing. Split all the way through the front of the block through the cam tunnel and into the main saddles on the block  Big end bearings came out like they were out of the box and engine was not on kill

    40 - 45 lbs boost, man I'm a whimp....

I was trying for 30 and ended up with 25 as an average.

What kind of over drive do most of you run?

540" BBC CN billet block, AJPE billet heads, Jessel keyway lifters, Indy intake, Littlefield 14-71 retro.

As far as I know it is a Big M, I am not the first owner but I am the first to get this engine going. The cap are the standard steel caps....

Would like to know what caused it but not to worried, going to a New Century

    Cheers Pete
