Hi, new to the forum as a user, long time reader.

Ok guys, need some advice on a motor build, please...

Putting together an outlaw car motor and have a cylinder head dilemma. The motor is an aluminum 540 Chevy, 11.5 to one, SSI 14/71, B&U in a 2700 lb. 71 Camaro. The short block is together (can't change pistons) and have two head options that are available to run (in hand). One is a brand new set of Pro-filer Sniper-X heads advertised to flow 470 cfm at .804 lift, or a set of the Bac-Man billet heads (titanium valves, magnesium intake, all in great condition) Both sets of heads will work with the pistons and valve train I already own.

Which head would you guys run for the best power and lowest et? Any flow numbers?

    Thanks in advance

Performance not withstanding I would recommend putting a billet head on a blown motor.

Thanks. I have been hearing that. This will be my first set of billet heads. If the heads are solid, can you still run water in the block? or is that asking for trouble.

    Thanks.........

If anyone has past experience with flow numbers, that would help as well.

How would you get the water in the block and blead the air out?

I will drill and tap for a return in the block, wondering if it is smart or better to run dry.

From an old post Fred Mandoline phone 630-782-0010. He created the Bac Man head .

If a BBC gets outrun it's not because of airflow..it's because the valvetrain blew up.
You have enough pieces to make a lot of power with either head. Run the toughest valvetrain parts possible.

Water has no place in a blown alcohol engine. You can run a waterblock but the water heads are a hassle to run dry.

A real sharp Chevy guy on this site is Bill Doucet out of Louisiana.
