Is there any advantage going from a BDS intake to a Littlefield . BBC 14:71 high helex retro

 

IMO, no. Unless Littlefield is doing something new that I'm not aware of. If you want more power than the BDS, put on an Indy manifold.

 

And if you plan on using port nozzles and don't want to have to cut up the valve covers to fit the port nozzles Indy manifold is the only way to go if you're using ports.

 

X3 on Indy manifold. Spent the extra $$$ and got one, very nice piece. Talk to JR @ RBS he got me mine for less than anybody else.

The Royal Ram mainifold from Roy Miersch is the best for conventional heads IMO.

 

How much are they now ?

Call Roy himself. He can be reached @ 760-427-5840 or 760-728-3934. His manifold has a better plenum and better runners than ANY tunnel ram style cast manifold on the market. Additionally, it can accept ANY blower in ANY location unlike the "other" attempted copies of his manifold.

Why doesn't Roy still make the 3 piece style Royal Ram ?

I'm tooling up now to make the valley plates from billet as I like this manifold ?

He still manufactures the Royal Ram. I'm not sure what you mean by a 3 piece manifold. He also still makes the valley cover with or without doors. We are racing in Pomona this weekend and I will make sure he contacts everyone at the beginning of the week. Hope this helps!

The manifolds I have , use three parts ?
A valley plate that you mill the ends of the block down so when you bolt the plate down, the heads seal onto it using an oring.

A plenum w/ intake runners as a separate unit.

Then a top plate that the blower mounts to, this plate is bolted onto the plenum and runners unit ?

All the valley plates I have are cast Rodeck units ?

That is the same basic manifold. However, there have been many upgrades. The manifold itself is still a two piece deal. The valley cover is considered a separate piece. He has made a valley plate for a number of years and his plate can come with or without access doors. Rodeck stopped making them many, many years ago.

The manifold is "common" in regards to the Royal Ram. I know you know the manifold. However, there have been many small improvements since you have played with one, I believe. There have been many used in your boat racing arena not to mention a tremendous amount of drag cars, drag boats, monster trucks, high power street cars, street rods, etc. It has better runners and has a better plenum than any tunnel ram style manifold available.

If you would like pics I would gladly send you some pics as well. I have just recently sent pics to a ton of people. I still have more people to forward some to. I will try to accommodate everyone in any capacity. Just give me a day or two.

So how about a screw charger on a BBC? When I looked at the last pics I got it didn't look like it could be accommodated? If it can with having the pulley spacing correct, are there any mods to correct the distribution so you don't need to fatten up some cylinders while leaning others? I'm not talking small changes but when you need to go 20-25 numbers between the front and back to compensate, the distribution of air needs to be tweaked. Anything for that? Pretty much the opposite of a roots that hasn't been set back a lot.
