National event pre-entry

    Has the NHRA changed their rule for the Finals concerning driver grade points and pre-entry? Used to be, a driver had to have a certain number of grade points to pre enter. I noticed today that B. Harrington ran in TA/FC. He has no points or pre entry, but, there he was. Nick Bastiao has two points but no pre entry, but was turned away at the gate. Somehow, I just know I don't have all the pieces to that puzzle.:)

    Bernie raced super comp last weekend in Vegas to get a grade point and get entered

    supposed to be a minimum but when there is a shortage of cars, the object is to fill the class

    National Event Entry Closes Monday at Noon PST the week of the event, from my understanding, no exceptions.

    They do this (from what we've been told because I've asked out of being curious only) that they set up pit parking according to the entry list.

    Maybe that is still in enforcement.

    Nancy,thanks for your insightful answer. Nick ran Vegas in TA/FC. As I recall, super comp does not count for grade points in TA/FC. I guess I will have to talk to Nick when he calms down next week sometime. The pits even had a few empty spaces. :)Thanks again.

    grade points

    grade points are grade points, it doesn't matter if it's super street or TAD. there are some technicalities, such as you can't get two grade points for running super comp and super gas at an event.

    i don't know what the ownership situation of that car is, but that car has run a number of division races over the past few years. they could have use the 'owner points' to get grade points for the driver of the car. if the ownership of the car is the same, he could have used alexis' grade points to enter pomona once he renewed his license without even attending the vegas division 7 event.
