    blown 540 alky heads

Anybody have experience with 320s on a blown 540 BBC with a
1471 high helix with buzzard catcher
    At 23% over

Min size ccs for a 540 would be helpful

    Thanks

Any negative thoughts on that, going with a 320 head?

In its unported form, it won't make as much power as a 360, but it can be ported to flow just as much as a ported 360. In fact one head porter I worked with liked doing a maximum port job on the 320 better than starting with a 360. In the end I couldn't tell the performance difference between the 2.(I never dyno tested it)

The short answer, if you're not going for max power, it should work just fine and if you want more later, than have it ported.

    320 head

I'll second that SoDak, what block are you runing? that will be your limit if you go for max power those heads with a max port job and a good blower (not the best blower) will make a lot of power and can push the crank out an average block. if you stand on the power watch mane caps for chatter.

Have a dart big m block with 4.5 bore

    Thanks for input

I'm looking to get new RHS 376 heads since the deck on these look like their a little thicker than 3/8"

I have the older new pro topline and seems a little thin

    But ill go bigger

    Thanks

    Heads

If you want a conventional head in the 360-370cc range go with the Dart 360 Solid. Then the deck thickness problem is gone.

What kind of power could be made on the 320 head with a 14-71 std helix? I am just curious as we don't have anything heads up here but our top dragster program the top qualifier runs a 6.80 so I would like to be around the 7.0 mark in a 1900 lbs rail. Thanks in advance

    Heads

It seems in a 1900 lb dragster you would need 1100 flywheel hp to get there. I don't see why a 320 head can't make that, should make a bunch more. When I had my little 511 with an old 80's vintage 320 head I figured by my time slips that engine was in the 1000 to 1100 hp range. With a 14-71 HH at 27%over, about 27psi. That was with a waaay fat tune-up and a little SMIII.

    Shouldn't be an issue IMO
