    Hi everyone,

After making some phone calls to companies and individuals here in the UK who can service our 14-71 for us, something came into my mind which I hope people here who race on a budget can help me out on; when is it time for a new blower?

I bought our littlefield 4 years ago which was well used (about 6 years old then), but had been freshened up at the time of sale. It has served us well, and ran some really great numbers with it.

Trouble is after making these calls, the money quoted to service the supercharger is nearly as much as I paid for it originally, which makes me think can I justify it, or is the money better spent towards a new, fresh unit?

Whats everyones opinions on their superchargers? What sort of life do you get out of your blower before you move it on?

    Many thanks
    Joe

Define what you mean by "service" your blower. If the inside of the case is not screwed up and the rotors are not too beat up then all you need is new blacks and stripes. That is about $300 here in the States.

    Hi Mike.

By service I mean black and stripes, check the gears, timing etc. The cheapest price I could get for that over here was at least three times that. Even just the blacks and striping here was best part of $600 in British money. Thats why I asked the question about what investment people put into their blowers or do they put their money into something new when you can't justify the cost.

To me checking the gears and timing is part of pulling the rotors to fix the blacks and stripes. Hmmmm sounds like it would be cheaper to send it over here to the Colonies to get it done.
