I have friend who bought a kb hemi block, its a short deck. The crank in it is broke so he needs to get a new one. He will be buying rods and pistons as well so time to change stroke. What is the max he can go? 4.150? I assume he cant use a 4.5" I have no experience with these. He will run it blown, wants to run 6.50s in an altered. Thanks for the input.

Why do you need all that stroke to run 6.50s ?
I know of TAD cars that run 5.30s with a 3.60 stroke.

not sure you can swing that much in a short deck
I dont think you can get a rod short ennough to keep the piston from hitting the crank

The standard Newberry 526 was short deck, 4.500 stroke, +.270 rods. Pistons never hit the crank.

    hitting the rods

no sure if i am understanding the question or not,but i would be more concerned about the rods hitting the cam in a -.500 deck, standard cam location with a big arm. thats my nickles worth.
