    I'm playing devils advocate here, so don't hate...
    Don't alum and steel rods generally break due to bearing failure. (except fuel (alum)) Bearing spins, seize, break beam of rod?
    When you filled a cylinder with water it compressed the rod and bent it. I did the same with a Carrillo. Bearing, perfect. Rod, bent all to hell.

    I use to work in an engine shop and the owner raced supermodifieds . One night he shut the engine down with the killswitch instead of the fuel cut and the crew forgot to back the engine down. It filled a few cylinders with alcohol (Hilborn stack injected) and it did slightly bend one Carrilo rod a little but.... the two that broke up towards the top almost sawed the block and oilpan in half :cool:and the bearings still looked good !
    We did save the injector !

    You would think that the bearing would show some flattening before the rod would bend in that type of situation. Am I missing something?

    This got to be quite an argument didnt it.

    Bottom line is, both steel and aluminium rods work, expesially in a lower HP motor like yours and mine (1500 ish).

    Personally I wouldnt put steel rods in any blown drag motor, but I'm not going to say they wont work.

    Do what makes you comfortable.

    This queston always does. Good steel or good alum. That eliminates scat, eagle, etc and whatever cheapie alum rods there are out there.

    Engine guys are funny. They find what works for them and stick with it. Makes sense, huh.

    A6525NOS aluminum rod for $1025.55 [and also i emailed MGP/GRP/VOINALY/AND couple more companys for there recomdations and Mike from R&R was only one that took the time to e-mail me back]
    my machine shop called GRP and they gave him 2 prices;$1110.00 for one set and $1267.50 for there pro series;;;;
    went on MGP site and there is at least 8 or more alumunim rod series;;

    R&r

    I run R&R Rods. Mike is great to work with and is a straight shooter. He will spend as much time talking to you as you need. Never had the slightest problem with the quality of their rods. Mike delivers on time. I ended up needing my rods a week earlier than expected and Mike stepped up and came through for me. A+ service!

    R&R rods

    We run R&R rods too, bought my first set of aluminium rods from him and every set after that, never had a problem with any of them or his service, he can also get a set out fast if you need it, he sure helped me out once.

    Im sure there are other great rod makers out there, but I found one I like so I'm staying with it.

    pay now/ pay later

    The choice is yours, new rods mean a rebalance of the crank also. For your application you should have no problem with either rod (the first season). I have used both materials with great success in the 1500 hp range. Alluminum is of course preferred.

    I have steel Carrillo rods in my engine. It makes 2200hp and I run it at 9000rpm every pass. 2 full seasons now. I would run the steel. They last forever. If your turning 10k rpm then maybe you need alum.
