Can you run a glide in TAD? If so what bellhousing, and can you use a billet flywheel with machined teeth and an on board starter? I can understand the concern with a standard flywheel with a welded on ring gear.

If I read it right the rules say you can't. Gotta be a planetary type, no OEM. You can, however, use a converter.

    TAD glide

NO NO and NO Get a 3 spd.lenco drive and different flywheel & converter. Then pray you can run a 60 or 50. with it. Other wise you are beating up parts for nothing. if you can't qualify for the 8 car field. Don

Thought thats how the rule read. Would rather be self starting than have to blower start. My thoughts wre to maybe run some Div. races with my TD, first rd loser in TAD pays more than a win in TD. I would have qualified 5th at the last div 2 race at renolds Ga. I know my car with a roots can't run with the big boys but that wasn't the point. Thanks for the info.

You would need carbon fiber brakes and emergency shut off system also to run TAD

Yeah, I know my car would need alot.....it was just a thought. May build a new car and set it up to run both, and some PXD races.

I think it would be a good idea if you could do both. What license do you have currently?

    TAD vs. TD

Jody, - You have a big challenge per the current rules.
TAD - " No starter ring on flexplate"
TD - "All entries must be self starting with an onboard starter & battery"
If you have room, you may be able to use a blower type starter mounted to the crank and use onboard batteries.
    Good Luck!

TD, but it would be fairly easy to get the upgrade to TAD. I know the rule about flywheels and the starter gear but I think the rule was made before billet flexplates were easy to get. There is nothing to fly off a billet flexplate, it may shear some teeth but setting at the head of staging I don't see the diff between TD and TAD. Thing is , down south here, unless you have a door car the choices of races are pretty limited.

Maybe they will accept billet flex-plates, who knows, NHRA has gone back & forth on blowers in TD. Tech seems to look the other way from time to time as well.

I know what you mean about limited events for dragsters, it is the same in the middle of KS.

    Good Luck!
