For those that run magnesium parts like injection hats, blowers and intake manifolds, what do you do to keep the alcohol from eating/ruining those parts?

    mag parts

They Dow 7 coat them, But dont run any mag. parts in constant fuel flow, lines fittings etc. Found out the hard way. As usual, thought I knew more than the experts. and as usual I was wrong. Don

Any good top lube works. I have used it for years. Many friends look at me funny when they see me put it in the fuel jugs, but my reward comes at the end of every year when Gerardot checks/freshens all the fuel system and there is very little wear and no corrosion--just that film. Anyway, that is my experience. JW

Are you saying that top lube helps protect the magnesium from being eaten by the alky?

I've never correlated the 2, just top lube to lubricating fuel pumps, etc.

We use an old magnesium Crower blower hat, we just give it a shot of WD-40 or Kroil if its going to sit for awhile, same for our mag wheels.

I've found that spraying the mag parts exposed to the atmosphere with silicone spray keeps them from corroding

I guess I misunderstood. I was talking about the interiors. The inside of the injector and blower will be covered by the film. Exteriors we have always had them Dowcoated (DO NOT let them get shot with powder fire extinguisher-not much protects from that stuff). Had a mag injector and blower recoated and first pass out (tractor pulling) had a small fire (well actually a sizable one) and safety shot it with dry powder--goodbye $250 Dowcoat job. Just my experience. JW

You are thinking correctly, I'm concerned with the alky sitting places and eating the mag. If putting top lube helps than that is an easy answer:) Does it take a particular top lube?

So you squirt the wd-40 in through the butterflies whiling turning over the blower to coat the intake manifold?

I had a mag blower case years ago I always put a spray can lid in the hats butterflys to keep it open so it would air out...get all the fuel out of it or it will destory the case..

Most dry fire extinguishers use powdered DiAmmonium Phoshpate. Basically phosphoric acid combined with anhydrous ammonia. When you add moisture it becomes corrosive.... Not just to magnesium either....
