I'm running a Nostalgia dragster with a Blown Alcohol 396 iron block, my crew chief wants me to get some non hardening silicone (he said it was white) to use between the main saddles and block to prevent chattering.
Is there a specific brand or trade name I could ask for? I looked at Loctite 5900 but it's pretty expensive and I dont need 10 oz of the stuff.
I realize you guys run aluminum blocks but I thought someone might have done this.

    Silicone

We use Dow Corning 111 Valve lubriacnt and sealant. It is what we consider non hardening silicone. It is clear like normal silicone though not white. We use it between the manifold and the blower.

Doug's dad Mike gave us a tube about 3 years ago. Now we buy it by the case.

Not only do we use it between the manifold and blower, I use it as a sealer on the manifold end gaskets, on my RCD gear drive to block, and gear drive to pump extension. Anywhere I used regular hardening silicone sealer or where we may have little leakers I now use the DOW Corning 111 non hardening and it absolutely doesn't leak a drop.

Best part is, it's easy to clean off after Daniel blows the engine up.

John Lombardo can get it through his NAPA parts store. You might check your local NAPA store to see if they can order it for you. If not, you can look up DOW Corning on the internet and find a local distributor. It comes in a green tube.

I don't know if this is the same as the Loctite product but you can buy at Home Depot in the big caulking gun tubes made by DAP called ALEX PLUS. Tube is labeld "Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone" Clear. That stuff never gets hard

it sounds like permatex aviation form-a-gasket would be another alternative. Seals great,Never hardens and is easy to clean off with lacquer thinner. Its available from any kragen and comes in a pot with a built in brush/lid.

Wouldnt the non hardening silicone blow out with crankcase pressure?
I had an intake leaking a while back due to some junk sealant, never hardened in the center

Nope. The stuff that didn't harden was probably pretty greasy and fairly thin? This stuff is tacky...(not like Will Hanna) and it's awesome.
