can a manual boost gauge with a one way valve show higher boost than it really has i have a 1671 lit shows 45-46 lbs of boost on run but engine does not act like it is building that much boost i reset the gauge after burn out. the gauge is not sprung and if you check with air pressure it checks very very close

My gage is usually about 4-5 LBS lower than what the data recorder registers as peak numbers.

The gauge is dumb and only is going to read the pressure pushed into it. If you checked the calibration with a known pressure then it is correct. The gauge will only record the max pressure obtained in a run and that is most likely at the peak rpm right before a gear change and is very short in duration and is not representaive of your avearge boost through the run. Even then that is good amount of boost and the motor has good potential to perform. Why don't you think it is performing well? What kind of car is this with what motor?

    gauge

I agree with Mike as usual !!!If you checked the gauge + you feel comfortable about it ,that is good boost. I assume it is not a pro mod. what rpm are you spinning the motor. + what overdrive. I do mine @ 32 0ver + the race pack says 39 LBS. But there is alot of things that will effect your boost. Not just the super charger. Maybe you can change it with another gauge + double check it. Good luck. Don

    Boost guage

When we were running a guage before we had a logger, the boost number on the guage would climb between the end of the run and the pits. Our set up was as simple as it gets with a checkvalve and guage screwed straight in to the plenum. I would check it when I got out of the car and it would be 20-21lb and by the time we hooked up and towed back to the pits it would climb 10%. Only explanation I came up with was heat sinking into it
    Cheers
