I recommend the go pro hero as well. I race dirt bikes as well as drag cars. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the product. The camera comes with all the hardware needed to install in your car. I recommend the 8 gig storage card, purchased separately.

How well do these cameras work in low light settings? ie racing at night

 

I am not too sure. I never had the chance to try it. Guess it depends how well your track is lit. The video of myn was shot in an overcast sky.

I bouhgt 10 of them at the PRI Show and now I am a dealer. They need 10 candle power or more. But because they are High Def the passing lights do not bother the quaility of the video. I have sold out and have 10 more coming in a day or so. PM for a price in you need one.

just got the lower level camera Motorsports HERO Wide pn gmhw5170 for 149.00 at pep boys, just to try it and see if its worth it. this is the non hd, but a wide lens type. im not impressed with the low level light permormance in the house. but am going to try it this weekend at barona on the car to see how it works. let u know. super small and comes with a ton of accessories. the only thing they dont tell you, is this one will work with windows xp. the hd type cameras need vista or windows 7. something to think about. the low level uses aaa batteries, the hd uses a battery pack. this one appears to be a basic starter level camera without a ton of options, which makes sense the hd are about 2x the price. we will have our niver stickers also at the race. thanks for doing those .

 

I got my Hero at a cartoys in Greeley Colorado. Sorry if yours never carried them. I have a few in-car shots with my camera come in low light and some in the middle of the day. I AM happy with the results of my camera. It was fairly cheap and i can switch it from my funny car to my motocross helmet with no problem.

My only problem is that i forget to turn it off and the battery does not last. Then I only get part of the run.

The 8 gig memory card is nice touch. Had several runs on it before I deleted them.

Do what you want buy what you want but it all comes down to personal preference right?
