We have a stage v Keith Black block with brad 1 heads ( the fuel heads) with a 1/2" lowered deck.I have been told this was a Top Alcohol motor. It has 7/16 single taper manton push rods. Now the problem is the exhaust push rods rub in the galley in the head. The intake were rubbing in the push rod galley in the block but we took care of that issue.
Brad Anderson says I should look for a lifter that has a raised seat compared to the ones we have, which are comps but I don't have the seat height at the moment. This will give a different geometry to the push rod and solve the problem. We cant enlarge the galley as it would interfere with the cylinder o-rings.
I already have to buy new push rods, now maybe new lifters too? Anything that you guys can give insight to would be appreciated.
Have any of you guys experienced this and how did you solve it?
Don at Brad Anderson says this is the main reason for the raised cam journals.
We are new to these motors and need your help.
    Thanks
    Brian

on some of our spares they would rub now we run the raised cam stuff we clearenced all the stuff and it would work the only thing you need to watch is the push rod tubes they are thin to start with..Dave

At one time or the other I have clearanced the block, the heads, changed the tubes, changed push rods and lifters. That said the simple way to get more clearance is to go to a 3/8 push rod with a thicker wall. The push rod guys want to sell the big tapered stuff and I am sure they make more power but the 3/8 stuff fits better. Buy the way the lifters they allude to are going to be .100 taller and you will probably need a shorter push rod.

Have had all the suggestions that you guys bring up and more.
It seems this problem is solved as Dave said by using the raised cam but that option isn't available.
We thought the exact same thing of going back to the 3/8 because all clearance issues go away but it was suggested that we would run into harmonics issues in the valve train if we did that some where above 7200 RPM and we would get more damage to the valve train with the harmonics then we want.
Yes Dave we see the tubes are thin and you don't have much room to play with trying to clearance them.
Would a solution be to have the galleys milled on one side which would be away from the cylinder side but not be enlarging the whole passage?

Offset pushrod cup lifters are an option.
Check the position of the rocker tip on the valve. You can always scoot the rocker over with shims. With lash caps even farther.

Who builds lifter with the offset cups?
I am checking to see if shimming will help too.
