If you put it in the unused nozzle port in the hat - it seems that the continuous vacuum in the hat would continue to siphon fuel .

I put mine in the unused port in the hat. I hooked it up using a gas solenoid and a small electric pump. When I hit the primer switch the solenoid opens, the pump runs. Once the engine starts, the switch is shut off and the closed solenoid keeps the gas from siphoning into the hat.

I like the idea of the unused port in the hat, use a NOS solenoid???
have a pic of your setup?
what nozzle and jet did you use?

I asked a couple of engine builders they say put it in the hat block, my concern is it will run back to the barrel valve and get past the barrel slot then I will have contaminated alcohol.

If you add an aerated nozzle in an unused nozzle port in the hat, you don't need another solenoid or check valve, just plumb it to a small electric pump wired to a button on the dash.

Yeah, the one's with the air holes in the nozzle body. I've run one like that for several years with no problem

I am not sure on a regular hat nozzle, there is a lot of vacuum inside the hat.

well....if someone wanted to run a primer pump with alky.....i have a good set-up for that. we run a #6 line out of the bottom of the tank to a holley blue pump (we had it lying around). out of the pump through a one way poppet valve, into one side of a T fitting which is in the main feed line which comes out of the top of the pump. the good thing about doing it this way is that when you push the button to run the pump....it fills all the fuel lines. i actually hear the fuel going in the hat nozzles and that tells me i'm finished priming the motor.
we have used this system with the same pump on 2 different cars now since the early 1990's....works great every time. hope this will help someone out there. any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I use the Rons priming system. Its stright forward and and simple plus it works. Part # RON3049. Less than 250.00. Can't beat it.

i use the nozzles that are already there. when i push the button to prime my motor, every line in my fuel system gets filled.
also, why would you need a solenoid? you need a pump, a T fitting, and a one way poppet valve (jet can).

Yes it has the solenoid along with the pump, line, nozzle and a 1qt fuel tank. One heck of a deal for 210. 00. Just got off of phone with them. Phone # is 1-800-513-3835.

Darren, I see how you are doing it, I had to go out to the garage and take a look to visualize.

Dan, what solenoid is included with Rons? make and model?

    thanks for the help here....
