Its always a good idea to blow some marvel mystery oil through the pump, barrel valve, and injectors to protect against damage from moisture.

will MMO pass a fuel check? I know WD40 won't.

I have a very mild blown small block. At the end of the weekend, i drain the system, put about three gallons of race GAS in it, light it and run it for a minute or two. It goes everywhere, and flushes every nook & cranny. When i pull my checks out to work on them, they are all full of gas, not alky. :)

We always cleaned our Nitro system with WD.
Curious to know why this should be bad, in case there`s something I`ve missed.
During the winter season, we fill the pump with oil and seal it off, so there`s is no way of letting it dry out.
I know several (nitro) teams that put oil in the pumps between seasons...
Also some manifacturers says this works fine..

What do you think is best for the pump?

don't know that it happens EVERY time... but i have personally seen WD and alcohol blend together and 'cloud/gel' up

honestly don't care what everyone else puts in their system but i will not put WD in mine

MMO is a great lube for your system and is very blendable with fuels (some people use it as an additive/top lube) so if there is any left in the lines it will burn easily and with no consequence during the warm up

fwiw... i did the WD thing when i first started tuning alcohol cars. why? because 'everyone else did it'... so it must be right? right? but seeing the reaction i described above changed my mind and i decided to find something better

    Eric,

What kind of oil do you put in your fuel pump before you seal it? WD in it too?

We've had the gelled up alky stuff in our system on the small block right after we bought it, it was no fun, played all kinds of hell on things.

We never found out what caused it, and have never seen it since. We dont use wd-40 in the fuel system, I do however squirt a bunch in the injector when we shut it down for the last time.

I know some O-ring materials dont like WD-40.

No WD in the pump - I think we put Amalie 70 in it.
We`ve had the pump (Waterman) for 2 seasons and we not seen any diffrence in the fuelpressure (idle or race) from when it was brand new compared to this season (2nd). Same nozzle areas.
That is after storing it with the oil inside.

Marvel Mystery Oil. Autozone, Napa, Walmart, True Value, etc... It's pretty much everywhere.

    Wd-40

WD-40 causes detonation, thats what we used to use to start a diesel engine. Detonation is not good for an alcohol motor
