I've heard that these are tricky to reassemble after they have been taken apart.
I want to take mine apart and am wondering if you have any pointers or tricks?

I want to take it apart to see how the "kick back" mechanism works.

I can call the guy in Arizona that we bought this from. I hate to ask RBS or RCD questions about a starter drive mechanism that I didn't buy from them. I even hesitate to call Arizona, since its been so long ago when we got it from him.

I figured some of you have had them apart and could steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks for the PM Lucky

What is the contact info for the gent in AZ? I've heard of him. I'm approaching time to buy a blower starter, and need to see what type of deal i can get. RCD is WAY out of my budget.

I think the ones from AZ are a whole different starter than the RCDs, mine are anyway...

Well, Dave beat me to posting Whitney's info, but to answer Lucky's question...
I have an ad printed off from 2003 and it says he has 14 different types including the 1416 which is the "common" blower starter and the 1363 which is the 1416 on steroids.

    Greg,

It was Greg Whitney that I got mine from. I believe my model was JH6. He says it's 2lbs lighter than the RCD. I will weigh them both tomorrow and let you know. Mine is crank mount, and fires the engine instantly. Half the price of RCD. I don't know about service, but RCD took a month to get me a replacement armature, and never called me back like they said they would, so it can't be much worse than that.

    SODAK,
This is the Arizona starter guy. If you will give me a call at 602-908-2316, I will be happy to give you a run down on how to check out your starter. It doesn't matter how long ago you bought it.
