    F/D TOP FUEL DRAGSTER
    Ultimate velocity race cars constructed of chromoly steel tubing and carbon- fiber composite. Super charged and injected, these cars boost 8,000 HP and can eclipse the quarter mile with sub- 5- second times at over 350 M.P.H :D

    No One will switch santioning except maybe a couple IHRA tracks.
    no reason to and there is no corporate backing in any ay shaped or form yet.
    They will struggle simply because of the ownership group of that fledgling assoc.

    There was a time when the AHRA consisted of Spokane Raceway park only. They still held a "World" championship. I remember a certain NW TAFC racer who had "AHRA WORLD CHAMPION" lettered on his trailer. So he was actually the champion of West Spokane. Wahhhheffinghooooo. Dave Germain

    I don't know the whole history of AHRA, so don't quote me on it. When I started racing AHRA events in 1982, AHRA events were run in Spokane (seemed to be their home base), Tulsa, Carlsbad, Palmdale, Tucson, and Kasas City. There were also smaller regional events (points races) in some smaller cities. From my experience, it was old time racing that a lot of us thoroughly enjoyed. The tracks weren't great, but the payout was ok, and there was a legitimate chance for a good racer to win a championship and have a good time doing it.

    There was some sort of accident at one of the tracks that ended up in a big law suit, which pretty well killed the association with the rest of the tracks. Spokane remained, and for many years still held its AHRA World Finals. Still a lot of fun to go to. When Seattle and Brainerd were two weeks apart, some quality top fuel teams used to come for the World Finals to put on a show. Force, Capps, Densham, Roger Primm, Johnny West, Don Garlits, the Greek, Gary Beck, Dan Pastorini, and Jerry Toliver to name a few.

    It might be a longshot that AHRA is ever returned to its former glory, but I would be very excited if it happened.

    sanctioning bodies

    I would love to see a viable, recognizable sanctioning body other than the NHRA. Someone to offer some competition for the race teams so that the NHRA doesn't have the only game in town. As long as there isn't anybody else out there offering races they can treat the race teams like total crap and get away with it. Ticks me off. They can jerk us around every way possible and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it..........well....there is BASSMASTERS......Dave Germain

    Sure there is Dave,..stop paying your $69.00 a year subscription, and just go get a IHRA cert on your chassis,...
    if 200, 300 to500 cars do that, it would be very noticable.....but your right, theres nothing no one can do about it .!!!!!

    :mad::mad::mad:

    :D
    CORRECTION :,.With near 80,000 members maybe if 20,000 people give up
    their membership it might make a difference...
    80,000 peeps x$69.00 a year = 5.52 million dollars ayear Hra takes in,.WOW

    Back in the early 70's New England Dragway hosted the AHRA Grand American and it was a who's who of nitro cars that attended it, the good old days!!!
    I'd love to see the AHRA do well and make the NHRA open their eyes to some competition.
