Can one of you rocket scientist tell me how many valves are on the seat at any particular time and how many valves are open or on the over lap in a V8 ?

That shouldn't be too hard to figure out, but it depends on where the cam is and what it's specs are. At what 'particular time' or position are you thinking of? Or are you just surmising and want a very generic answer?

I'M WONDERING HOW THE MANIFOLD SEES. SAY 50 LB'S OF BOOST IF SOME OF THE VALVES ARE OPEN AND LETTING AIR ESCAPE FROM THE MOTOR, OR IS THAT THE TEARY OF THE MANIFOLD WITH THE PIE SHAPE IN THE FRONT.( HELPING THE AIR STAY IN THE MOTOR.) not being a wise guy. just notices that i'm in caps, and i'm not retyping this.

Not sure I am following this right but as I see it the only time you might let air ESCAPE from the motor would be on valve overlap. A small amount gets lost due to blowby. After ignition anything escaping out the exhaust valve can hardly be called air. Boost is simply the preasure devoloped when providing more air than the space containing it can hold. You could probably see highs and lows in boost preasure as intake valves open and close but it would take some real good equiptment to see it.

Whatever the magic number is, it's going to be the same ever 90 degrees of revolution, just moving to a different postion in relation to firing order. I'm sure the psi would be pulsing pretty drastically but I doubt most boost gauges could react that quickly at engine speed and just appears to be a steady amount of boost.

Basically the boost goes up and down and lets say 50 lbs is the max the gage sees?

Seems to me that there is always an intake valve open. I think Eli is letting us know that if there was ever a point at which all the valves were shut we would have about 100# boost

Ya got me, now how do we do it, cam?, reed valves,? think about if we can make say 80 lb's of boost, slow the blower down so as not to use the HP to turn it to fast, how much HP we could make! ( don't wast the extra HP to turn the blower) :D

A supercharger is the same as a commercial rotary air compressor! It's just like using a airtool in the shop, as long as you make more air than you consume you will build pressure in the tank, in our case the tank is a manifold and we call it BOOST!

Eli, I can see how we can make more power by increasing the boost by upping the airflow into the intake by bigger blower, more OD, better hat, more efficient blower etc but I dont see how increasing the boost by restricting the airflow out of the manifold helps! Educate me!:)

If you read my first sentence I was asking a question, trying to make people think, maybe someone can come up with an answer.:)
