Ideas about eliminating dives

Here's one way to fix it!

How about rather than having team mates run each other, have an NHRA official (along with the owners of the other teams as witnesses, so no one could cheat with a double sided coin) go to the Force team pit area, and have the official flip a coin (the one who would have had lane choice would get to call heads, or tails in the air), example: John Force calls heads, it lands tails so Robert wins, and he doesn't even have to make the run (so there would only be one semi-final F/C race) since Ashley won the only semi-final race, so she would get to call heads, or tails, she calls heads, and it lands heads so Ashley wins the U.S. Nationals, so she doesn't have to make a pass to win (so there wouldn't be a final round F/C race), as a bonus John gets to save the money that he would have had to spend to have his cars make 4 passes, now every bodies happy because the outcome was not pre-determined.

If you have a better idea that isn't complicated let's hear it.

 

How about just lifting the stupid rule that says you can't take a dive. If the teams don't have the integrity to "run" it, then let them take the dive. It's going to happen anyway. Your coin flip idea is good except that the fans don't get what they paid to see.

I agree with dumping the rule that a diver can't take a dive. If it taking a dive becomes rampant it won't take long for the sponsors to step in. This sort of behavior makes them look bad too. Dave Germain

 

I concur! Just get rid of the rule, then they can be up front about it.

 

I think the fans would protest dives with their ticket purchase if diving became a sport in drag racing. Remember Angelle when they didn't even take the bike to the starting line several years ago? The boo's could be heard all the way to Glendora.

 

How about next time: Push the clutch in and hit the wall. Then when your upside down and on fire and he come up and mumbles something about you cheating, jump out and kick his butt.

It's not like this happens every week. if the Force team would not have been within two rounds it couldn't have happened. if cruz had won the race same scenerio. The Force team was "good enough" to be in the position to throw the round to get robert in. In my opinion they earned the right to throw away a possible "Indy Wally" for John (I don't care how many he has their priceless)and therefore It should not really be an issue. Cruz should have not let his crew cheif lose focus by helping his brother so much.
