    Oil in Canada

I'm from Canada also and we can still get the Royal Purple SAE60 (nitro blend I think its called) depending where you are from Mopac sells its (or they can get it). There are a few people on this sight that have said its good oil. I have a pallet of Penzoil SAE 60 left but when its gone I'll be in the same boat as you.

well i have a deal with pennzoil so i want to stay with them, would you be interetsed in trading some 60w for other cases of oil?

any other suggestions or ideas if we mix 50 and 70

I asked my oil rep about mixing 50w w/ 70w to get 60w....he chuckled a little and said, "it don't work like that". You might get a little difference in viscosity at room temp's, but you don't change the chemical properties of the oil.

However, you'll see a lot of guys on here that do mix 50 and 70 w/ no problems.

If you can get the Royal Purple Nitro Blend 60W it is great oil. I get 2 weekends of racing out of it in a 20% nitro blown hemi.

We've been running Lucas 50 and 70 mix for 3 years or so now in our TAFC. It does make a huge difference mixing it. We had a lot of bearing issues running straight 70 in average weather, the rod bearings just looked crappy. Switched to a 50/50 mix and everything looked great. Now, if we're in real hot weather such as Seattle a few years back when it was 105 degrees outside, we run more 70 than 50. Same with cold weather, more 50 than 70.

It makes sense what he says about it not changing the chemical properties of the oil, and by no means am I an oil engineer, but the way I see it we're diluting it with something thinner, therefore making the overall viscosity just "that much" thinner.

    Brad Penn 50wt x 5qts.

    Brad Penn 70wt x 5qts.

    Lucas Stabilizer x 2qts.

Plus 50/50 mix in the filter.

Plug the heater in and warm for a half hour or so depending on the outside temp. No issues.

    Oil

You can get Torco in 60W. I get it in a 55 gallon drum but I am sure they sell it in smaller quantities. I have a rep that can ship it to you. PM me if you are interested.

    60wt

nathan, what oil pressure are you seeing with the 60wt mix versus 70wt when its hot.? say at idle, 80lbs, or more? I assume you run a dry sump. I may switch this winter to dry sump, but its spendy. so's no pressure after the burnout or run. have been using a wet sump,13qts, 8200rpm max.
