I'm having some kind of oil leak in the plenum of my intake that I can't track down. I've attached a couple of pix, and have more on photobucket. As you can see it appears that maybe this would be a leak from the blower due to the pattern in the intake. However i changed blowers and same result. Rotors are dry and oil level has not changed in the back of blower. I've sealed and resealed the intake, but it keep showing up like this. The motor runs good and doesn't smoke, makes good power and leaks down 2-8% on all cylinders. I run silicone between the blower and the restrains plate and betwenn the plate and the intake in addition to the orings. As you can see, it is pushing oil past all that and on the side of the intake above cyl 8 you can see the oil puddled in the exterior. I run a whipple and it makes about 3 lbs of boost at idel and about 45 lbs at full throttle. I have a hard time believing this could be due to the intake not sealed up properly. Maybe this is a 2 stroke with oil injection?:) Seriously, it does not appear to affect the performance, but it can't help. I've checked an rechecked all my boost sensor lines to make sure I didn't accidentally have it connected to an oil line.Any suggestions??

Oil inside and outside of Intake,hmmmm..I would try a different intake,..
I bet there is a hairline crack back by #8 cylinder where the intake bolts down on the head, and only after there is heat in motor and motor has grown.
Blower is sucking it in from the valley, but yet crankcase pressure is pushing it out ???????? Just a thought.

    DaDing we have a winner,

I don't know much.. but it sure looks like the blower is distributing it into the intake to me, so yeah I would think its blower lube, the other thing is the color looks like something that has stuck to the rotors and absorbed a lot of dirt before being deposited in the intake, I wouldn't think gear oil/ motor oil would get that much color.

    Just my 2 cents,

It's a whipple, so I don't really use any lube. However, both blowers did have fresh coatings on them. So that could explain the black, but it still doesn't explain the oil in the intake and between the intake and blower. The inside of my intakes have always been pretty much bone dry. The last time I had the blower off, I cleaned the plenum with brake clean and now the same thing about 20 runs later.

here's a close up of the oil on the intake.I'm going back and inspect the intake closer to make sure there are no cracks

No real input, however, nice designs.

Different fuel with top end lube? When I run top end lube, I always get streaks of black out the zoomies on my doors. Never looked that close at the intake but I always had black "ooze" around the sealing base o-ring between the manifold and plate or blower.

Top lube will do the black streaks of amazing designs, if you use it that is. I think the dark stuff is belt debris, I run the purple belt and what do you know I had purple streaks in my intake.

I found the same thing. I saw black stuff in my injector screen and the manifold. After looking at the belt, I was quite sure that it was the stuff off the edges of the blower belt.

The belt stuff, however, didn't look like it "flowed" through the manifold like yours does. It was spread out more and more sporadic (sp?).

I had a similar issue with a street car carb intake. I backed off all the valves and made a plate to cover the intake hole and put an air fitting in the plate and pressurized the intake. I then sprayed soapy water solution all over the intake and found a crack. Hope this helps.

A friend saw plates on some fuel cars from the roll bar to the bottom of the hat and he thought it was aero related but I think it was to keep the belt crap out of their 10k blowers?
